Abeer suffered from an atrial septal defect (an opening in the wall that divides the upper chambers of the heart) in addition to a congenital defect in the pulmonary veins. Abeer had an open heart surgery and is now doing much better, has more energy and is gradually gaining weight again.
Thank you to the visiting American team that performed the operation. And our continued gratitude goes to Dr. Iyad Al-Amouri, who supervised the operation.
